<p>When a person calls themselves a &#8216;writer&#8217; that really opens the door to a wide variety of &#8216;writing&#8217;. There is fiction and nonfiction, of course, but what I mean is &#8216;<a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genre" title="link to Wikipedia article (227 hits)">genre</a>&#8216;. For example, there is science fiction, fantasy, romance, historical fiction, mainstream, etc etc. THEN within each of the genres are other segments. For example, there is &#8216;hard&#8217; science fiction vs &#8217;soft&#8217; science fiction. Hard SF means that what happens in the book could possibly actually happen. Soft SF means that the current information available could not produce such events.</p>
<p>So what genre do I fall into?</p>
<p>Good question!</p>
<p>Of the projects I have going right now, I have a science fiction, a fantasy, and several romances. Ugh, romance? Yes, romance. But not just the usual &#8216;throbbing member&#8217; type. I got womyn doin&#8217; womyn in mine. In regular terms, that means I am writing gay/lesbian fantasy romance. Now, feel better just knowing, don&#8217;t you?</p>
<p><strong>My debut novel, <em><a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/fiction/bgcfa/" title="(824 hits)">Butch Girls Can Fix Anything</a></em>, was released by <a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://regalcrest.biz/" title="(198 hits)">Regal Crest Enterprises</a> in January &#8216;07.</strong></p>
<p><a name="wiplist"></a></p>
<p><strong>My current WIPs (works in progress) and their status:</strong></p>

<li><a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/screenshots/" title="(366 hits)">Screenshots</a> of various stuff, including parts from the Inspiration software.</li>
</ul>
<p>You can keep track of some of these by going to the <a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/blog/progress-report/" title="(794 hits)">Progress Report</a>. I have each of the most active projects listed and their current wordcount.</p>
<p>###</p>
<p>I find myself leaning somewhat toward the erotica side at times. I think its because I am not being graphic in my WIPs and I feel the need to NOT fade to black. So I write what happens between the sheets, I mean chapters. <u>The Guide</u> is my way of letting all that out. There are no fade-to-black sex scenes!</p>

<strong>On-line Reading:</strong></p>
<p>&#8220;<strong><a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://asouthernjournal.com/Ezine/Archives/2005v6offutt.htm" title="(147 hits)">Arrivals and Departures</a></strong>&#8221; - a short story published online by <a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://asouthernjournal.com/" title="(325 hits)">Muscadine Lines, A Southern Journal</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/fiction/writer/" title="(355 hits)">Writer Meets Writer</a> - this one is old old old. I suppose about ten years or so.</p>
<p><a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/fiction/challenges/" title="(324 hits)">2004 May Challenge - Story-A-Day</a> - In May, Forward Motion had a challenge that I tried to do. I only got 5 (May was a bad month, June was even worse!). All five of the stories are there:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="challenges/#interview">The Interview</a></li>
<li><a href="challenges/#buzzard">The Buzzard Dance</a></li>
<li><a href="challenges/#behind">What We Leave Behind</a></li>
<li><a href="challenges/#hands">Hands</a></li>
<li><a href="challenges/#actress">The Actress</a></li>
<li><a href="challenges/#desk">The Desk</a></li>
</ul>
<p>I have also added some of <a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/other/" title="(595 hits)">my older poems</a> <i>(as in about 18-20 years ago)</i>. They are awful and I know it but frankly, I don&#8217;t care. Read them if you feel brave enough.</p>
<p>In the same section as the poetry, I have put the <a href="http://paulaoffutt.com/go.php?http://paulaoffutt.com/other/freewriting/" title="(357 hits)">freewriting</a> stuff.</p>
