I Heart Turtles

I do, really. I see them as proof of God's sense of humor. Walking rocks.

We had errands to do today which included a trip to Earth Fare, a health food store. Next door to it is a way cool place called The Silver Armadillo. They have rocks, minerals, gems, fossils, beads, findings, etc. Cool place.

While Lorna went to Earth Fare, I went to The Silver Armadillo. And I found a wonderful necklace. It's a turtle made out of, I think, unakite and rhodonite. It is strung on a simple string. Later, I may upgrade the string to leather. (clarification: I call all turtles and tortoises "turtles" because it is easier to say and much easier to spell. Turtles have flippers and are mostly aquatic. Tortoises have "elephant like legs")

I like this because it is a necklace, a version I don't have. I don't wear necklaces often but I think I will this a lot.

I have other turtles.

They aren't figurines, butches don't have figurines. I'll smack anyone who says otherwise. The big one in the front is a sea turtle made of resin. I got it at Sea World when I was in Orlando in October. The one half out of the egg in the back left, I also got a Sea World. The next day I found the T-Rex one and had to get it to match the sea turtle one. Neither one are very well made. The painted one I got from Ten Thousand Villages a few months ago. It is my favorite one, I think.

This is my most expensive one. He sits in a clear container that used to hold candy. I love the markings on its face. The one below is it again with me holding a bit of a turtle shell. Lorna found it on her mail route and brought it home.

All of them, and Twain the monkey, sit on top my monitor.
