Actress Caidence Harris is living her dreams: she’s got a leading role on a hot new police drama, and although her new-found celebrity has changed her life, she’s still able to lead a quiet life off the set, indulging her passion to be outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of nature. There is one dream—one passion—she hasn’t fulfilled just yet, but that doesn’t seem to be possible.

Robyn Ward is a natural beauty, and a magnetic, talented actress on the fast track to stardom. Unfortunately for Caid, she already has a partner on that track, an athlete who gleams as brightly on the courts as he does on the red carpet.

Soon Caid sees that all is not as it appears, but can she take a chance and risk her heart when the outcome is so uncertain? It’s a role for which there’s no script, and no rehearsal…

Kelly Walker is known around town as the Fix-it Lady who can repair just about anything. That’s true, except for the hole in her life left by the death of her lover, Anna. Her fix-it business provides the perfect hideout as she resolves other people’s problems instead of focusing on her own shattered life.

Grace Owens, single mother, is determined to stand on her own two feet and make a fresh start for herself and her nine-year-old daughter, Lucy. Lucy has a goal of her own: she wants to master her math homework, and that’s a hard task with a mother who doesn’t understand division.

The three meet under a leaky kitchen ceiling. What each has to give, the others need. They must learn when to take risks and when to trust each other. Together, can they find the tools that will allow them to fix what most needs to be rebuilt?

IN BROAD DAYLIGHT by Jane Vollbrecht.

Colleen McCrady, an aspiring writer, is on the verge of having her first novel accepted for publication. Elizabeth Albright, owner and managing editor of Standing in Sappho’s Shadow Publishing-Triple S, as it’s known in the lesbian publishing industry-gives Colleen a helping hand, and in the process, the two discover that a love for lesbian literature isn’t the only thing they have in common.

Despite their romantic chemistry, Colleen and Elizabeth are at odds over other aspects of their relationship. Try as she might, Elizabeth can’t get Colleen to reveal many details of her childhood and family life. Colleen is likewise stymied in her attempts to get Elizabeth to bring their relationship out into the open. The situation comes to a head when Colleen offers Elizabeth a new manuscript-one which will either take their relationship in a new direction or destroy the bonds between them.

Elizabeth is drawn into Colleen’s tragic past as she discovers the
long-buried secret that Colleen reveals in her new book. A mystery that is nearly a half century old is reopened when Elizabeth helps Colleen unravel the puzzle of what really happened to a lone, deaf black man who worked on Colleen’s fathers farm in northern Minnesota all those years ago. The story that unfolds is a multilayered tale of love and hate, bigotry and acceptance, heartbreak and triumph. Once the mystery is solved, only one question lingers: can Elizabeth and Colleen step out of the shadows and stand together In Broad Daylight?

Nicole Davis is marrying into a socialite family. But Emma’s

  1. Congrats! Maybe an advert will boost sales? Not suggesting your publisher is remiss in this department, it’s just that you can never have too much publicity about a book and often authors promote on their own in addition to any other support. Good luck!

  2. Actually, that is my one grip with RCE. Their author promotion department is non-existent. They sent notices to several larger GLBT bookstores, such as Star Crossed Productions. And they sent copies to some reviewers. But other than that, I am on my own.

RCE allows the author to have a lot of input with the cover, the editing, etc of the book. I just wish they’d help a little more in the promotion part.

They have an author liaison that has great ideas but still…

  3. Congratulations! From my untrained observations, all publishers are like that, unless of course you’re an established NYT Bestseller type. Roomie has 2 books out and she has been very much on her own for marketing and sales. She has found that signings at bookstores and bookfairs really help. Don’t know how realistic that is for you, but if you can hack it, do it…
