Site problems

I've had some slow load times for all of my sites. Except for the one that is WordPress enabled. I doubt it is a WP thing though. I dumped the browser's cache and they finally loaded, although it was taking a long time.

In the world we have made, this worship of now-ism, waiting ten seconds longer than usual is painful.

Got some work done

I got some editing done today and yesterday. Not much, just enough that I feel like I accomplished something. I'm about to enter it all in now (I was mucking with the hard copies).

I want to get this thing finished. I love it and I think its my best work so far. But I am about to chuck it out the window.

Cleaning: Day Three

Today was more of a fix-it day than a cleaning day. We took off the cover from the front door and put up new screening. Lorna also put a piece of lattice on the front bedroom window.

Years ago, when we had a dog on the porch on a long cable for her to run on. She was attached to the cable via a heavy chain. One day that chain swung and cracked the glass on the window. A few months later, Lorna and I were leaving the house and she shut the door behind us. The glass shattered and fell literally on her head. She was fine but the glass was officially beyond duct tape.

We replaced the glass but less than a month later, it broke again, but I can't remember what broke it. It was summer so we just covered it with screening. We had to add lattice to keep the cats from shedding it when they jumped up on the door as a way to 'knock'. Come winter we covered the inside of the door with that solid pink insulation. That was, oh, five years ago? A front door was on our 'get' list but it just never happens.

Anyway, it was the annual 'Taking Down of the Pink' day. We'll need to put up a blind that fits in well with our 'white trash' motif.

Putting it off

Procrastination techniques from someone else. Yes, I am stealing again.

These I found on my own:

And then, to help pull ourselves out of it and get back to whatever:

Opinions are like…

bellybuttons.

Why come up with my own witty post when I can steal from someone else's??

Georganna Hancock, who I steal quote from often, mentions a 'Twenty Five Sites for Writers' list by Bryon Quertermous. Went there, read it, cool ideas.

She mentions another feller's opinionated post (Tod Goldberg) which is no where near as polite as the first.

Have I mentioned I just joined/subscribed to a bunch of different writer stuff? And that Writer's Digest is one of them? Maybe subscribing to them is like a rite of passage or something.

Rites of Passage

In addition to Writer's Digest, I also joined/subscribed to/applied for:

There are others, but I thought I'd spread 'em out over a few weeks or so.
