bookmark_borderTime’s Up!

Or will be soon.

I only go a few more words in. There was a scene I wanted to write but couldn’t figure out just where to put it. I spent time reading and re-reading, and not much writing.

Final Count: 52113
Count after removing dead scenes: 51592

I have several scenes that I wrote as part of the world build prior to Nov. 1st. I will insert them tomorrow then most likely set it aside for a while. Let it stew for a bit.

I am glad I am done with it. It is good, but far from done and far from making sense.

So, another NaNoWriMo draws to a close. Phew. TGIO

How did everyone else do?

bookmark_borderNaNoWriMo Spreadsheet

I uploaded my spreadsheet I used to keep track of my count. I thought maybe someone would like to see how I do it. Keep track of word count, I mean.

It is available as an Excel (.xls) format and as OpenOffice.org 2 (.ods) format. Right click the link and select ‘save as’. Or click the link and see what your browser does. Might be interesting. I also did a screenshot for those who’d rather not go through the hassle.

While I am 99.9% sure the two files are virus free, you should never trust anyone in terms of downloading. Be sure to run it by your virus software before opening.

I would be interested in knowing how others keep track of their counts. I can be rather anal at times with mine.

bookmark_borderDay 29

Just over 14hrs to go here on the east coast. How is everyone doing on their goal?

I didn’t write anything yesterday. Didn’t feel like it. Didn’t want to. So I didn’t.

Tonight, after poking at the WIP all day, I finally got 933 words down. Not good words, just decent words.

Could get more done but I don’t want to. So there. Nyah.

bookmark_borderNot a Good Morning

You know you are going to have a bad day when you are awake at 5 freakin’ a.m. when it starts raining in your bedroom.

Looking to buy a house? Look out for words such as ‘rustic’, ‘charming’ and ‘original’.

bookmark_borderPast vs Passed

Okay, this argument is about to be settled.

Walked passed or past the table?

According to my guru, Robin Smith, here are the rules:

Past is also like walking past something.
Pass is a verb and only a verb.
Past is a noun (regretting the past), a preposition (half past two), and an
adverb (walked past).

Any questions? Any responses/comments?

bookmark_borderMillion Word March

Jess has a post about a statement from Stephen King where he says that a writer has to first write a million words of shit before they write something good enough.

Therefore, writers everywhere are tallying their WIPs to see if they are ‘there’ yet. Like several others, I linger within the 600K limit: 632180

    BG1 – Kelly/Grace – 79149 (finished, awaiting final edit)
    BG2 – Nikki/Ellen – 45435 (in progress)
    BG3 – Harri/Liz – 15398 (in progress)
    BG4 – Rain/Jo – 4647 (just an idea)
    BG5 – Peaches/Sam – (just an idea)

Simple Sarah – 129439 (in rewrite, again)
Long Lea – 65355 (prequel to SS)
SS NaNo – 51134 (a very different version of SS)

    Scholarly – 3160 (first attempt)
Centric – 15037 (2nd attempt, much better plot)

MfW – 131739 (first book I ever finished and it shows)
PaPoP – 8657 (sequel to MfW, got tired of the damn MCs and quit)

Airport – 16963 (started out as a romantic mystery but started going erotica)
Guide – 20503 (definitely erotica; no fading to black in this one!)
    Truck Stop – 10538 (YADR)

PW – 18345 (mostly a collection of short stories with a common MC)
Ryan’s – 4417 (collection of short stories for my nephew)

And other short stories, one published and one is submitted to a contest, total 7898.

Only 367820 before I will have written enough. According to Stephen King that is.

bookmark_borderDay 27

Eh. Almost not worth an entry.

265 new words. Some editing.

I started some freewriting and research for a new idea. Didn’t get far but it felt good to step out of writing for a bit.

I am not sure if I will continue my NaNoWriMo project or just let it stew for a few weeks.

bookmark_borderWheelers

Think Wheelers are to be pitied? Think they sit on their arses and watch the world go by?

Well, sure, some do, but not all. Check out these idiots wheelers.

All of my books so far have had at least one character that uses a wheelchair or has some sort of disability. Why not? They/we are everywhere, why not in fiction?

bookmark_borderWheels

It is that time again. Time for me to get a new set of wheels. No, not a vehicle, but a new wheelchair.

I used to hang out at a great crip wheeler site called WheelchairJunkie. The bulletin board there is chock full o’ nuts but also of advice and friendship. When I started writing seriously, my priorities changed and I didn’t go there as often. I am hanging out there again, gathering information as to what type of chair to get this time around.

Anyway, they apparantly started an ongoing story line, each person only adding 6 words at a time. I have been laughing my ass off! These guys are nuts and this just proves it.
